Embodied Carbon in Building Construction
16 January 2020

John Herbert
Director
Will embodied carbon become the norm in 2020? It seems awareness and the
importance of the embodied carbon (aka embodied energy) is gaining
momentum in 2020. embodied carbon is the quantity of energy and
resulting carbon emitted during the mining, processing and transportation
of construction materials from cradle to the job site.
In Hong Kong it is important because we do not have any natural
resources, so that all the materials have to be imported, along
with its embedded carbon.
And this metric does not need to be super complicated, a straightforward
methodology and calculation will gain more traction , faster, without
loss of specificity or accuracy.
finally, it seems in 2020 everyone has picked up the #embodiedcarbon
