Buildings are voracious energy consumers, eighty nine percent (89%) of all electricity generated is consumed by buildings in Hong Kong, and one third of that is used just to power air conditioning systems.

Correctly designed low energy buildings, sometimes called "green buildings" need to be properly designed holistically, using integrated engineering design (IED) techniques if energy usage is to be minimised, systems operate more efficiently and save building owners money.
