Electrical Installation and Panel Inspection Using Infrared Camera

John Herbert
Director
High-rise Hong Kong needs reliable electrical systems, and
routinue inspections are needed to prevent power failures.
Infrared inspection is the tool for inspecting live electrical
circuits to idendify any minor problems, before disaster
strikes whilst in service. It should be part of your annual
Planned Preventative Maintenance plan.

How does infrared work?
All objects have a surface temperature, in electrcial testing,
faults will have a higher temperature, but since temperature is
not visible to the naked eye, infrared camera shows us the
temperature image.

Kelcroft's infrared camera identifies areas where corrosion
or loose cables cause localised heating, it's an improvement
over the traditional tightening bolts.
Kelcroft's infrared imaging is fast, accurate to 0.01 degC,
non-destructive test (NDT) method that pin points problems
during the inspection.
It's a line of sight test, therefore any obstacles may
prevent inspection. Panel designers show ensure boards
are constructed without obstacles to permit future infrared
inspection.

Reporting
After the inspection, a written report is provided detailing
findings and recommendations.
