Roof Membrane Inspection and Testing Using Infrared Camera

John Herbert
Director
The waterproofing of a new building needs to be tested that requires a
flooding test or water retention test. The roof drains are plugged,
and the roof is flooded with water for the prescribled period of time.
After the flooding test, ASD for example require infrared images to check
the new roof membrane is intact.
How does infra-red work?
All objects have a surface temperature, for roof membrane testing
in the event of water leakage that area will have a slightly different
temperature, but temperature is not visible to the naked eye our
infrared camera shows the different temperatures to pin point the flaw.
Kelcroft's infrared camera can check and identify areas where
water from the flooding test has penetrated under the new membrane.
Infrared inspection is fast, accurate, and a non-destructive test (NDT)
method that can pin point water under the new roof membrane, so repairs
can be done.
